Tempeh Chips

Tempeh, just like tofu, you either hate it or love it; but it takes just the right seasonings to make you love it. Personally, I never thought about making a snack out of tempeh, but once the idea came to me, I knew I had to give it a try. The result? Tempeh Chips, delicious & full of protein, that will leave your cravings satisfied.

They’re super simple & quick to whip up and have room for you to get creative with the seasonings.

Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian product, made from fermented soy, a protein-rich vegetable legume. Very similar to tofu.

Variations to this recipe

  • BBQ: salt+pepper+garlic powder+onion powder+paprika+brown sugar
  • Cool Ranch: parsley+garlic powder+onion powder+celery salt+chives+black pepper+dill
  • Nacho Cheese: salt+nutritional yeast+chili powder+smoked paprika+garlic powder+onion powder

Tempeh Chips

Serves: 4 Prep Time: Cooking Time: Nutrition facts: 200 calories 20 grams fat

Ingredients

  • 8 oz package tempeh
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
  • Seasonings to taste: onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper

Procedure

  1. Place tempeh block on your cutting board and thinly slice. Try to make your slices as even as possible.
  2. Place tempeh slices in a mixing bowl, add oil and all of the seasoning ingredients. Carefully mix until everything is incorporated.
  3. Air fried: Add seasoned tempeh to the air fryer and cook to 355F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. 
  4. Baked: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place tempeh slices on a baking tray with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes. Flip and bake for another 7-10 minutes or until tempeh is golden brown.
  5. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce and ENJOY!
