Golden Milk Smoothie

This Golden Milk Smoothie makes you feel good from the inside out. Perfect for the warm weather.Golden Milk Smoothie.png

Do you remember my golden milk latte recipe? In that post, I talked about how much I loved having that latte in the morning and sometimes at night. But the days have slowly turned warmer here in Puerto Rico, and hot drinks are starting to not be very suitable for the sunny weather. Basically, now that summer’s approaching, it’s time to eat and drink all the frozen things until fall starts rolling in.

This Golden Milk Smoothie in my new breakfast smoothie obsession. With only 4 main ingredients and 4 spices, it’s easy to prepare this delicious smoothie, and trust me, it will become your obsession as well. Enjoy this in the morning on a hot day or end your night with a little calming and nourishing indulgence. All you need is about 5 minutes & a decent blender (yes, really!).

IMG_0019.jpgBenefits of Turmeric:

  • powerful anti-inflammatory
  • great antioxidant effects
  • functions as a skin tonic
  • helps with the prevention of cancer

And hey! If it’s too cold for this where you live, you could always make the warm version instead.

Recipe: Golden Milk Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of milk of choice (I use coconut milk)
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of black pepper

Procedure:

  1. Add all ingredients into the blender and pulse until smooth; just make sure to add the coconut oil last, since it solidifies in cold temperatures.

Recipe tips:

  • For more nutritional value? Add oats
  • Want more fruit? Add pieces of frozen mango

Yes! Turmeric! Precious ingredient. Great idea to add cinnamon and ginger to offset the turmeric’s powerful taste. Going to have to try this blend. Thank you!

I have never tried turmeric but I’ve been really interested in it. I love how you have a hot and cold recipe. I’m headed for the grocery store tomorrow, I think I know which ingredients to add to my list.

turmeric milk is something we have grown up with; and turmeric itself is an everyday ingredient for us in our cooking ; and this is another way to use it – looks delish

I’m not that experienced at making smoothies, but I definitely want to give this one a try! It sounds like all the spices blend together perfectly to give the smoothie a great taste.
